The work speaks through these voices
I first met
you in the fall of 1995 less than a year after I was given
a diagnosis by the Allopathic Medical Community as having
Multiple Sclerosis. An acupuncturist that I was working with
referred me to you. I remember my first Tri Yoga class where
all the students shared who we were and what we hoped to learn
from your classes. The first thing that grabbed me about you
as a teacher was how your demeanor exuded peace and tranquility.
You instantly made me feel welcome and comfortable in your
class. I also was amazed at how wonderful you made an empty
room smell and look wonderful with incense, a few candles,
some flowers, and soothing music. The energy that I felt in
that room for every class I attended was wonderful!
At that time my previous fitness program had consisted of
doing cardiovascular marathons on Lifecycles and treadmills
and pumping iron at a fitness center, where everyone watches
everyone else to see who looks the best. You taught me to
not care about how I looked, you taught me to "be",
and the beauty of "being". In your classes the more
we were ourselves the more we were one with everyone else.
You taught me to "breathe", probably the most practical
thing one can learn.
In the past few years as my disability worsened, I so enjoyed
returning to your basic classes. You always made me feel,
speaking without words, that I was doing well. You treated
everyone equally and taught everyone that wherever we were
in the practice, was the right place for us. Your soothing
gentle "healing touch" on my third-eye during relaxation,
made me feel like a baby whose head was being stroked by their
mother. When I needed a little extra help with a stretch,
you were always so gentle.
What I will remember most of all about your classes, was your
soothing voice while you guided us with visualization and
reading eloquent aphorisms and poetry during the "relaxation"
portion of class. Your tone and eloquence deepened that experience
each I time I heard your voice.
You not only introduced me to the greatest exercise for the
body, mind and soul, but you introduced me to a new way of
life, one that flows with love, peace and joy that feeds my
soul. I think few teachers can achieve that end. For this
I am truly grateful to you forever!

Kashi is a most generous and inspiring
teacher. She joins with you in learning, sharing not only
what she has learned over her many years of practice, but
what she recently picks-up at a workshop herself, or a new
revelation. I have always felt so accepted whether I have
time to practice each day in between classes, or haven't touched
my mat since her last visit; and she teaches from exactly
where you are in your yoga practice, not above your level
or below your challenge. Anyone lucky enough to take a workshop
or class from Kashi will come away with a rejuvenated energy
for yoga, their body, and the greater world.

Taking the TriYoga Basics class with
Kashi was like being led through the first steps on a path
to a physical and spiritual adventure - one that could help
us all lead fuller, healthier and more beautiful lives.

I have been thinking about what I would
say relative to yoga and having you for a teacher. It was
a wonderful experience. God led me to yoga when I was going
through a tough time. I am in the "sandwich" stage
of life. My parents were selling their home and moving to
a retirement community and needed a lot of help - and they
live an hour and a half away. My youngest son was in drug
re-hab. My husband was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis,
my sister was severely depressed. The list goes on, but you
get the idea.
I am a Christian, and for me yoga has improved my physical
well-being by helping me to be in better shape and more flexible,
but it has also provided a means by which I have been able
to get more in touch with God, the Holy Spirit, the Higher
Being - call it what you will. Yoga gave me one night a week
when I was doing something for myself, and also has enabled
me to be more patient, calmer, more present in the moment,
more aware of the multitude of God's graces in my own life.
I am deeply grateful.
I am also grateful to have had you for a teacher. I started
in a level 2 class with Linda, because that was the only night
I could get there at the time. Linda was very patient with
me and never made me feel out of place or unwelcome. Yet,
it was really nice when my friend decided to come with me
and we started in your Basics class, because that was where
I belonged. You are so calm and patient. You encouraged us
to progress at our own pace, and yet the sessions are still
challenging enough that I always felt that I got something
new out of every class - because I had. And I have told more
than one friend that they haven't lived until they have experienced
the time of meditation and relaxation at the end of class.
Anyone who is fortunate enough to have you for a teacher will
be blessed, as I was.

Kashi has been, for eight years, my
yoga teacher and my spiritual guide. When she demonstrates,
always mindfully, gracefully and lovingly, the asanas and
the flows to her students, she radiates a profound awareness
of the spiritual dimension of Tri Yoga. Over the years I have
seen her affect so many individuals in her classes as she
has guided us gradually and gently, and without judgement,
in our practice of yoga. Most importantly, Kashi demonstrates
how the lessons of Tri Yoga can be used in everyday life.
With Kashi yoga is much, much more than a physical discipline.
With Kashi, we are transformed...

You have a rare ability to express spiritual
truths with freshness and
authenticity. In contrast, the same words sound like half-understood
clichés in the mouths of others (yoga teachers, alas,
are notoriously
guilty of this tendency). Your teaching is so effective because
you
obviously "walk the talk."
